Into the Light [1]

High shool started, I was really nervous on my first day. It was the first time I was going to take classes in the afernoon only. I think my schedule was from 1:20PM - 7:40PM the whole week.

While CECyTEM was still a public school, it still had a much different demographic in it compared to my Junior High school.

The first day, I arrived slightly late, and I really didn't know anyone in the class, which was bad, because all of them knew each other, but I can't rememer exactly why, but I think someone mentioned something about Ozzy Osbourne and I replied back saying he was pretty cool, and then we started talking about him. It was a guy named Ricardo, he can pretty much be considered my first friend from High School. He was nice, but we were really really opposite things, so we didn't talk for long in the semester. Actually, that was a huge problem, all of my classmates were so not like me. They loved to drink a lot, skip classes and such. I was not any close to that, so I didn't fit well in the class, which acted as an advantage, because since I was not their friend, I was not forced to be with them when they skipped class and they were fine with that. And, honestly, I would like to be friends with people that prioritize alcohol over their study.

My parents didn't had much faith on me, and I promised to myself to get better grades in high school. I don't know how, but I managed to pass all my courses with relatively good grades. I got an average of 8.7 on my first semester. I remember I was the only one who passed the Algebra course, mainly because I at least tried to do the homework.

I met a teacher that I really appreciated on that semester, she is named Marta Ortega, and gave me the course of "Reading, writing and oral expression I". She really trusted on me and she was really nice with the whole class. Imagine my surpirse when I found her in a classroom at the FESC when I was in first semester, it turns out she also teaches in UNAM. When she saw me there, she said: "I knew you were going to reach this far.", it really made me smile.

Due to me grades, I was offered to switch to my schedule for second semester to the morning groups, but I declined it, the afternoon classes weren't that bad, everything felt more relaxed, and I liked it that way.

Overall, first semester of High School was good, I found out that there was still hope left for me and what was even better, it was just the beggining!
